How does Jesus help mums today?
The main reason I've created the Devonshire Shepherdess was because I felt that Jesus asked me to. To be honest with you, if it wasn't a divine mandate from heaven, I wouldn't have ever had the idea to even do it. Sure, I really am a shepherdess for over 20 years, but the Devonshire Shepherdess is more than just a whimsical fairy tale name.
You see, as a mum to then 2 year old back in 2016, I found myself so broken physically, mentally and emotionally. I was wracked with mum guilt constantly because I never felt good enough and the shame I carried which I never knew was even there, was a heavy burden on my shoulders, and in my gut.
Shame around my past mistakes shame, I had become disabled when becoming a mum and at that point shame that I kept getting angry and taking it out on my beautiful little girl, because her behaviour frightened me. And I had no idea other than to get angry what to do about it.
In steps Jesus, my knight in bloodshed armour. How? I hear you say. Well, through our wonderful friend the Holy Spirit, the most important part of the divine nature of Jesus for those of us vagabonds who are roaming the earth. You see, if you're anything like me, I would have been classed as growing up in an English Christian home. I would occasionally go to church or chapel depending on which grandparents I was with. We went to the important times Christmas, Easter and Harvest festival. I learned the stories of the Old Testament, Adam and Eve, Sampson and Delilah, Moses and the Burning Bush number. Of course we must know that one. I sang the songs at school and said the Lords prayer before lunch.
But it turned out none of these things meant anything if we had no knowledge of the Holy Spirit. You see, Jesus came to earth in the flesh and died for you and I. You remember I mentioned my mum guilt and shame I also should have said unforgiveness of myself and others. I could not love others as myself, as the Bible suggests. Because I just couldn't love myself on any level. Sadly, I hated myself and I believe deep down many of us do.
As it is written in the Bible, Jesus died and rose again on the third day He conquered death, humanity's biggest fear. Then he stayed around for a while, but ultimately he ended up back in heaven, leaving his followers and friends stumped to say the least. Because even though they had lived with and followed Him for three years. It turns out, like you and I, they struggled to listen or comprehend what Jesus was teaching them. Praise God that we have Bibles written in our own languages no, so we can study the word over and over if we have to. But the Disciples His followers didn't have the New Testament like we do, because they wrote it.
Anyway, I digress after around 50 days. The disciples, Jesus’s followers were gathered in a room and praying because they knew they had to wait, but they weren't sure what they were waiting for. Along comes the Holy Spirit, described as a wind that whipped in around them. Then they saw tongues of fire above their heads to suggest to them that this was no ordinary wind. After that encounter, they were able to speak in all different languages and get this, they were so full of joy and excitement, people who weren't in the room thought they were drunk at 9:00 in the morning.
You see what our church education yours and mine seems to lack is the power of the Holy Spirit. And this is the part where when we decide that the guilt, shame and unforgiveness is too much to carry anymore, we can say sorry for making bad choices to Jesus. And if we believe in our hearts, He is real and alive in heaven today, then He sends us the Holy Spirit as the greatest gift on earth. Because suddenly you have the ultimate personal assistant anyone could ask for. Although the journey starts by saying sorry to Jesus and accepting he died so all your troubles could be taken off you, you then have to move on to the next step, which is sanctification. Now this is where the Devonshire Shepherdess comes into its own because it is designed to help those of you on a journey you may or may not know Jesus and that's OK.
I highly recommend you do.
But if you're not there yet this is where grace comes in. Grace is what God the Father gives us. Now I've not mentioned him, but there is a third important person in our heavenly team. We have God the Father, God the Son who is Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit 3 in one. Don't get stuck trying to work that one out right now. It is still a mystery to me too, but I know and trust it to be the truth.
Anyway, God the Father is the ultimate creator of the world. He knows everything about everything before, during and after time began as well as everything thats going to happen, which is very handy when you have the gift of prophesy as I do. It is God the Father's desire to be reconnected in spirit with all of us. He wants to shower miracles and blessings upon us, send angels to protect us, and see us living our absolute best lives as mums, wives, and daughters.
However, because of one bad decision made by Adam and Eve when they were deceived by Satan. Who is the one that brings the guilt, the shame, the unforgiveness and many other bad feelings we feel every day. God had to cut them off from being able to directly speak to and be Him. Their whole lifeline was cut off.
Why? you may you ask. Because God is holy and requires us to follow His commands because they are the ones that keep us safe and provided for, all He asked them to do was not eat from one tree in the garden. The tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. But Adam and Eve wanted to know more, and what they ended up knowing about in the end was death, guilt, shame. With one bad decision these humans that God created with His own hand and had given free will so that we aren't all robots, plummeted the rest of humanity into yuckiness. Thanks!
But God had a plan, that plan with Jesus, who he sent by his grace to save us, because we cannot save ourselves. Jesus came to save our souls sent by God’s grace. And this grace is extended to everyone who chooses to hear and believe in what Jesus has done for us. When those of us who choose to follow Jesus get the gift of the Holy Spirit. The next part is to share this good news with others. And in my case I get to share how I have been transformed through the sanctification process, as I’ve been given enough courage to do that. Read my book
The challenge we have is some of us are very broken inside we are heart broken even. Our souls are full of clutter and wounds that keep affecting our everyday lives. Our mind runs wild with thoughts which are lies for the most part, which we let in because Satan continues to deceive us even now. Just look at the world around you.(Just saying)
I've been here too. But now I have been transformed by the renewing of my mind (thoughts) because I choose to believe in Jesus and follow Him through the leading of His Holy Spirit. I get to hear from God Himself what steps it is I need to take to ensure I am safe, protected and provided for my every need.
Since 2016 I've learned a lot about Father God's heart for us, his children, and it's this heart I share through the Devonshire Shepherdess in the hope that one day you too will have your own personal relationship with Jesus just like I have. In the meantime, let's get renewing you mind or rewiring you brain to get you back some time in the day, discover some peace and then have more energy to start thriving, not just surviving.
